To answer some of our readers’ inquiries, the Discovery Center out at Fairmead will be celebrating National Fossil Day tomorrow, and no, I will not be on display. This is a fascinating place, and they will have replicas of hominid skulls to see, and a plethora of other fun things and activities.

In case you were curious (which is why you want to go tomorrow) a hominid is any of a family of erect bipedal (two legs) primate mammals that includes apes and such, and oh yeah, humans. Well, I must admit I do pedal my bicycle with both legs and most of the time I am erect. But we will leave it right there to form your own conclusion.

As if the summer had not been enough fun for these guys, the Madera High Class of 1967 will be holding their reunion this weekend at Madera Golf and Country Club. I just completed the series on the Summer of Love in 1967, but these terrific and almost classmates have been working on their own version for the past 45 years.

As most of you know my gal is the hospital, but hopefully out of ICU at the Fresno Heart Hospital by the time you are reading this. A dear friend brought some flowers yesterday, but flowers are not allowed in ICU. I could understand that right after heart surgery. But that brings me to this. We got married in December, however, many years ago, even before the good old days, people took their yearly bath in June (we take more than that) and they still smelled pretty good by the end of June. But with summer coming if you were going to get married it better be soon, hence: June brides...
