Football season officially ended Sunday with the Super Bowl. With yours truly knowing the outcome because a good defense almost always beats a good offense I took time outs during the game and didn’t miss a commercial. I logged nearly all of them and came up with a total of 87 commercials accounting for over 54 minutes of watching. The total didn’t include pregame or postgame ads.
In the first quarter alone there were 23 ads. With both teams running 119 plays and the average play lasting six seconds we actually saw 11.9 minutes of action. Wow, what a game.

Next up, the Olympics. Our trepid reporter, Tommy Tinklejinks, emails that rooms for the athletes in the Olympic village are pretty sparse with just a twin bed and a nightstand.
Makes one wonder what all those high-paid pro hockey players will think. Maybe they will opt for a luxury hotel like our spoiled NBA players did at the last Summer Games. I can’t imagine Zdeno Chara, a 6’9” defensemen for the Boston Bruins, getting a good night’s sleep in one of those rooms...
