For a kid just entering seventh grade, Madera’s Tristan Zamilpa is already a seasoned traveler.
The 13-year-old just returned from Mexico with his father Joe Zamilpa, where Tristan was invited to participate in the Mexican Junior Olympics.
The tournament is used to select the members for Mexico’s World team, and while Tristan won’t be representing Mexico, he certainly represented himself well by taking second place.
Tristan, who started wrestling competitively just three years ago, won the national championship last season in Greco-Roman and took second in freestyle.
