Great old time. Actually, a great time remembering the oldies. That was the “Shindig” and “Hullabaloo” (TV shows from the 1960s) held at the Country Club Saturday with music by the Ebonknights.

For you kids, they were the hottest local band around in the 1960s and Saturday, with Tom Simonian, Myron Gomes, Charlie Magarian and Mokey Cowger (filling in on keyboard), they still rocked the sold out crowd with classics like “Mustang Sally,” “Gloria,” and “Walkin’ the Dog.” According to David and Joan Loquaci, it was “a mini multiclass reunion,” and they hope to be able to do it all again in a couple years.

I bet the above mentioned “Sally” never would dream of owning a Mustang capable of 200 mph. But the 2013 model Shelby GT500 Mustang is capable of that and more. A test drive (not by yours truly) showed off a six-speed manual that lets you do 60 mph in first gear and cruise along at 140 mph in third. Wait a minute. I’m thinking I’m having a mid-life crisis.

I guess I’ll settle for my Jeep. It’s capable of crawling over rocks and sand in first gear at an amazing five miles an hour, and in fifth gear cruise down desert highways at 75 mph with no problem...
