For the hundreds of adults and kids who utilize our town’s soccer and softball fields at the end of Clinton Avenue, those hardworking folks of Sunrise Rotary are building much-needed restrooms at the softball diamonds. These guys and gals also built the tinkle facilities across the creek for the soccer players. “I guess,” as one Rotarian quipped, “We’re not worried about keeping up with the Joneses, we’re busy enough keeping up with the johns.”

Yours truly stopped by Farnesi’s to talk to the fun bunch recently. We were all attuned to pretty mixologist Tiffany Howes telling us about her new ride — a motorcycle. With visions of Harleys and Hogs we wondered how the petite Tiffany could possibly handle the rolling thunder.

Now this scribe has heard of pinto beans, Pinto cars, and pinto ponies, but never a Pinto motorcycle. I should have checked with Bob Wilson of Madera Honda for details, but deadlines arose so I went to the Internet. Indeed there is (was) a Pinto motorcycle. And, as luck would have it, the images gave proof it was just the right size for our tiny Tiffany.

What happened? There suddenly seems to be a dearth of silver and black around lately (except for ex-cop, Russ Suderman, at the Elks), but no problem in finding red and gold in sweatshirts, jackets, flags hanging from car windows or waving from the backs of pickups. We are finally getting down to the finale of the NFL, with the 49er faithful cheering once again as in the days of Joe Montana and Steve Young...
