The deadline (Aug. 14) for entering the special cooking contests featured in this year’s Madera District Fair is coming up soon. So, arm yourself with your wooden spoons, mixing bowls, pots and pans and get ready to participate!
The fair will be open for fun Sept. 6 through 9. Today we will focus on two contests: the Favorite Beef Casserole Contest, sponsored by the Madera County Cattlewomen and the For Men Only Chicken Wings Contest, sponsored by T ‘n T Cattle.
In the beef contest, great prizes are in store for the lucky winners: First, second and third place winners will receive the regular $20, $15 and $10 awards, plus special awards of $75, $50 and $25!
The chicken wings contest also has the usual $20, $15 and $10 prizes, plus special awards of $60, $40 and $20. This is some serious fun, folks, so let’s get right to the recipes...
