This column writing stuff is risky business at times! Right now, for example, I am taking the chance of losing some readers’ interest and perhaps inspiring some exclamations of disgust.

I am about to focus on a dish that is either loved or hated: menudo. I am hoping there are enough fans of this spicy, Mexican soup/stew to justify my walk down this culinary path.

If you cringe just to think of it, you have my heartfelt apology and my permission to draw a mustache over my photo. For those of you who appreciate a good bowl of menudo, let’s mosey on into the kitchen and see what we can stir up.

Menudo

From the Sunset Mexican Cook Book, which I have been using for decades. My own comments are in parentheses. You may want to add some dried oregano or a mixture called menudo mix...
