Mixed emotions on the inauguration

On Monday, the nation watched the final inauguration of President Barack Obama. I felt a connection to the president when he stopped on his way out of the swearing in ceremony to take one more look over the National Mall. That was my favorite part.

According to, Obama said to those with him, “I want to take a look one more time. I’m not going to see this again.”

His desire to hold on to that moment resonated with me because that is something I do when I am having a good time. Life throws a lot of trash at us, when blessed with a period of joy, live in the moment and savor it.
