Today, Madera High is honoring veterans who have sacrificed so much for the welfare of our country. During break, the Class of 2014 will be serving breakfast to the veterans and thanking them for their service.

Madera High School will be honoring those who have served in the military at an assembly during 3rd period. Skye Greer will sing the National Anthem at the beginning of the assembly. A 21-gun salute will be performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bill Jones, a Vietnam veteran who served as a fighter pilot, will be speaking as well as Marion Mealey, a World War II veteran whose photo was used on a poster throughout the country to recruit Americans for the war.

During lunch, the National Guard will have a Dale Earnhardt race car on display as well as games and activities for students. All other military branches will be on campus to answer questions and give information to the students. We are honored to welcome them to Madera High School. Let us give thanks to all who have served in our country’s military.

MadTown Robotics Throwdown

This coming Saturday is the MadTown Throwdown robotics competition hosted by Madera High School. This event will feature 30 of the best teams from California and a team traveling all the way from Texas. Come watch robots battle it out in a high tech game of basketball known as the “Rebound Rumble.” The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Madera High Flores gym with final match play starting at 2 in the afternoon. We will be fundraising for Abby Grace to help in her fight against cancer. The best part of the event... free admission...
