Signs soon will be popping up all over Madera saying “Love Madera.” This project is an effort by the Madera Ministerial Association to instill civic pride in our community. The idea is simple, explained Pastor Roger Leach of the Valley West Christian Center. People should take the initiative to improve life in Madera. Activities are being planned to clean up the riverbed, spruce up local parks and tidy up the town. I have often advocated in this space that Madera would be a better place to live if everyone pitched in. The Love Madera is slated to do just that.
Spearheaded by local churches, recent successes include an event on April 28th when close to 400 people turned out to provide volunteer services for local projects.
At Thursday’s Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Pastor Leach debuted one of the T-shirts being used for marketing the program. A minimum donation of $5 will purchase the blue-grey colored shirt adorned with the Love Madera logo in white and red. Shirts are available from Mariann Croxen Advertising, 363-5657; Grace Community Church, 674-1172 or Valley West Christian Center, 674- 8922. Yard signs are also available to remind people to participate in the program.

If you see litter on the sidewalk, pick it up. If your neighbor is unable to perform a chore, do it for them. These random acts of kindness lie at the heart of the Love Madera mindset...
