Lincecum still a mystery

The San Francisco Giants have one of the best fifth starters in baseball. How many ball clubs can tout a No. 5 starter who has two Cy Young's on his mantle?

But perhaps the time has come for manager Bruce Bochy and GM Brian Sabean to consider that Tim Lincecum might not make it back from the Land of Misfit Toys. He is in a funk so complex that instead of handing out bobbleheads when he pitches, they might want to consider rosaries. Or turning the bleachers into tent revivals for prayer.

After getting lit up again in a 5-0 loss to the Rangers Sunday, Lincecum now has dropped his last eight decisions and the Giants are just 3-16 over his past 19 starts.

Yet Bochy seems to be living in denial. He says that Lincecum is special and he has all the confidence in the world that his former ace is going to figure it out...
