Over the years, a plethora of dramatic and comedic stories have been shared at one of my favorite restaurants and when I perused the television on-screen channel guide and spied “The Vineyard” I thought, wow, I could write a couple of screenplays for the series. Of course, I would have to change the names to protect the innocent (?).

Alas, the story doesn’t take place at our local eatery of fine food, but at a house and restaurant in far-off Martha’s Vineyard. I say there’s more at Madera’s Vineyard than at Martha’s place.

Going to the dogs. And it should. Cynthia Ortegon and her Friends of the Dog Park met this week to discuss what needs to be done at the Rotary Park area for our canine companions. These folks do a great job improving and cleaning the dog park. However, Parks Department Business Manager Mark Etheridge reported at the meeting that some of the newly planted trees are undergoing stress. Sheesh, I guess so, with all those dogs running around, lifting their legs at every tree trunk. But keep up the great job, and if the trees get really stressed out they will be replaced.

This guy wouldn’t be welcome at the dog park, but reader Bill Hoffrage is being hounded by a coyote on his country property. The coyote (Bill calls him “Yotee”) has a propensity to run around Bill’s truck and always in a counterclockwise circle. Bill is thinking about taking him to Chile to see if he will race in clockwise circles...
