The lady turned 78 years old Saturday, so they gave her a birthday party. I don’t know exactly what I was expecting; I knew it would be big since it was being held in Madera’s new VFW Hall, but it was a lot more than just a large gathering. It was an outpouring of love, the likes of which this writer had not witnessed in quite a while.
More than 200 people gathered to say “happy 78th birthday” to Lois Bertoncini, and among those in attendance were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
They all paid tribute to her, and what they said reminded me of that verse in the Bible that reads, “Her children rise up and call her blessed.” (Proverbs 31:28)
Indeed, they did rise up and call her blessed! ...
