Everyone in 4-H should do a record book. A record book keeps track of what you are doing in your project. There are record book forms you fill out and on the forms we write down what fairs or shows we went to, what entries we submitted, what we won, how much money it took to do our project, how much money we made in our project, and what we learned that year.

Members of 4-H turn in a record book every year and there is a project record for each project a member does. So, if I raise a lamb, I write how much I bought it for, how much feed and hours of work I put into it, how much my equipment is worth and also the cost of new equipment for my lamb, how much I sold it for, and where I showed it. It is a good way to keep track of my project.

My brother has a big fat record book because every year you are in 4-H, you add your new forms on top of what you already have and he has been doing it for about five years. My record book is still small, but someday it will be big like my brother’s book.

We also write an essay about our 4-H story and we can put pictures inside of our 4-H memories. On the front page every year, we add up our lines of what we did for each section and add it to what we did before. For example, 4-H camp and Madera fair would be events we attended. Entering a lamb or chicken at a fair or a cake at Favorite Foods Day would be a line for project skill activity. There are eight categories...
