As you read this, I am attending the wedding of my brother Brian Hill to Dee Dee Gran of Fremont at the McCaffery House Bed and Breakfast in Twain Harte. They’ve been going steady for 25 years.

In our family, I was the youngest child and the only girl. Growing up in the shadow of two older brothers was challenging to say the least. My brothers were good at everything.

As kids they were on the Teco sponsored Little League baseball team. Every summer found us in the bleachers watching my brothers play baseball with David Gill, Johnny Kocoris, Kenny Taylor and Steve Whitehead. Brian played center field with Rocky on the mound.

When the boys got to high school, they played football for the Madera High Coyotes. In the fall of 1966, both brothers played on the varsity squad. My late father’s favorite photo is a black and white, 8x10 of him being hoisted up with one son on each side taken by a Tribune photographer after a Friday night win...
