The national media had just finished fawning all over LeBron James like a giddy schoolgirl at a Justin Bieber concert.

Superlatives from the national pundits were flying like candy from a piñata.

He had finally taken the step to gain their respect as the finest basketball player in the world. No longer was he viewed as a player who couldn’t close out a game and a series. And with one of the best individual playoff runs in NBA history, the media suddenly used this as some sort of epiphany to cleanse him of his original basketball sin.

Forget the “Decision” and all the absurd claims and theatrics when going to the Heat and proclaiming South Beach as the mecca of the NBA for as long as he, Dwayne Wade and Chis Bosh deigned to hold court there...
