A front page headline in this area’s other newspaper Wednesday read: “Mad cow found in Valley dairy carcass.” Now authorities have assured everyone, including me, there is no threat to humans. I enjoy a good steak as much as anyone (except my gal, and those PETA folks), but this scribe, according to the headline, is wondering how they got that entire crazy cow inside that carcass.

Missed again. Even though several dedicated readers, including John and Camille Brandon, made me aware of Channel 24 being at Farnesi’s on Wednesday morning, it was a tad too early for this scribe. Not that I wasn’t awake. But... well, you’ll just have to ask my wonderful gal why I didn’t make it to the sunrise shindig in front of the cameras.

Hey, if you haven’t got your tickets for the trip to Red Hawk Casino in Placerville on May 12, get ‘em soon. Six hours at the casino and a fun bus ride that will have you home even before dark. Deadline is very soon, so call Corinne at the Adult Day Care Center (675-3119) and help out that wonderful program for Madera’s seniors and their caregivers.

Wandering into a boutique. That is something I do not even attempt, except tagging along while my gal shops. However, I may give it a shot on Mother’s Day at the Elks Lodge.
