I hope you are enjoying the Thanksgiving weekend. The act of gathering a multigenerational family can generate warm memories that last a lifetime. They can also create huge family drama that go on for years. I hope yours was the former.

Nevertheless, taking stock of one’s blessings is always a good way to spend the weekend especially when surrounded by warmth, family and pumpkin pie. Politically, the tradition of the president pardoning a turkey is about the silliest Thanksgiving tradition I have ever heard, but what are you going to do?

There are many things for which I am thankful. Starting with every person who is reading this. The last decade has been tough on the newspaper industry. One of my greatest fears is a day in the not too distant future when the term newspaper will be relegated to the same historical refuse bin as the term rotary phone.

The people who read our paper and write letters for our editorial page are greatly appreciated. Frequent contributors such as Sam Pistoresi and Eddie Chappa add to the very fabric of our community. The fact that I get to contribute to the local discussion and our readers respond in kind is a very special to me...
