Getting ready for that Irish day

It won’t be long until St. Patrick’s Day is upon us. I don’t think there has been one St. Patrick’s Day in my life when I remembered to wear something green, unless you can count the time I had a piece of chopped spinach stuck in my teeth.

I finally ended up crocheting a small green shamrock out of yarn and attached it with a safety pin so I could avoid getting pinched. I gave some away, and as far as I know, people still have their little shamrock pins.

I really don’t think I have anything green in my closet and some of the green things in my refrigerator are actually called mold. (Joking — I do clean!) But I do like to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day with a traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner.

I know that corned beef packages come with cooking instructions, but I will include a basic recipe for the one-pot boiled supper. Just don’t expect any leprechauns — they scare me! ...
