Using coupons allows consumers to buy more groceries with less cash. But by buying too much, one takes the risk of having the food go bad before it is even eaten.

I found a great deal on hot dogs a few weeks ago and picked up 10 packages. Their expiration date was about a month away.

“How is my family going to eat 100 hot dogs in one month?” I thought to myself, trying to think up creative ways to cook them. (Pigs in a blanket? Chili cheese dogs? Sliced franks in mac and cheese? Sliced franks and eggs?)...

Quite simply, there’s no way we were going to finish them all in a month. The solution: freeze them...
