This has been a tough week. Major disasters tend to clarify and bring into focus the things in life that are important. Disputes that seem important can be revealed as petty when the thin line between life and death is obliterated. Hold your loved ones close. Every day is a gift.

Since technology brings every national event to our telephones and living rooms it connects each of us to the drama as it unfolds.

The tragedy in Boston on Monday deeply saddens our nation. The senseless taking of life to serve some agenda is evil. Rest assured, those responsible must be hunted down and prosecuted as terrorists.

The first responders, law enforcement and civilians who rushed into harm’s way to help the injured represent the very best qualities of America. In the hours after the blast, reported acts of kindness lit up social media sites...
