The fight is on

It’s time to Relay the message that Maderans stand as one in the fight to whip cancer. Tomorrow, at Lions Town and Country Park the annual Relay For Life will be held.

This community, and I mean its people, have always rallied together this time of year and have raised over $1 million to fight the dreaded disease that touches nearly everyone in one way or another. Even if you are not on a team, come on out and enjoy a spring day in the park, meet old friends and make new ones. It’s a great time and a time when you can be proud to say you are a Maderan.

Meanwhile on the other side of the globe (almost) we have Kenya, home to great long distance runners. The guys may soon be able to run a different type of marathon. The government recently passed a law saying it was okay to have as many wives as you would like, can tolerate, or, I guess, satisfy. Either way this scribe suspects they will be just as good at long distance running, except their practice will no longer include running away from lions, but their spouses.

On the home front, this grateful scribe feels lucky to have the one gal I married...
