The Fossil Discovery Center is hosting field trip students, their teachers and some parents every day; lots of them arriving from quite an area. Following the instructional part of the visit our guests often enjoy the lunches they bring at tables adjacent to the building.

The center store has drinks, snacks, models and souvenirs that visitors may purchase. We’re glad to be sharing our science teaching resource with other counties as well as our own. Guests of all ages bring questions and comments that add to the conversation, and at times, bring new knowledge we can use.

The word is spreading about the center and it has received coverage in newspapers, magazines, and travel brochures in our country and others as well. We had to find someone to translate the notice about the center in a German newspaper. Visitors can pick up brochures advertising the area and we provide information about Madera County, its products and offerings.

There’s room for more. Additional specimens of creatures not yet represented and expansion of relevant historical displays and plant life will be added as soon as funding becomes available...
