A turn north on Golden State Boulevard from Avenue 16 will bring you to a land of dinosaurs, mammoths, ants, flowers, deer and beautiful pottery in less than a half-mile. Tucked behind Farnesi’s Restaurant, S&L Pottery & Metal Art features landscape items and decor for your lawn and garden found nowhere else in Madera.

Owner and manager Loreta Bassi offers a variety of top-of-the-line statuary, large pots and urns, tables, benches, fountains and metal works of art. Bassi is a lifelong resident of Madera and graduated from Madera High School in 1984.

“I was raised in Madera and love everything about it,” said Bassi.

She is married to Tajinder Bassi and they have two daughters — Yamille, 21, and Zayna, 16 — and a son, 9-year-old Salem...
