South African double-amputee 400-meter runner Oscar Pistorius was named to his country’s Olympic squad to compete in the 2012 London Olympics.
While this is a pinnacle moment for those with handicaps, his inclusion is also generating controversy.
He was born without fibulas and, as a boy, had both legs amputated at mid calf. Sports were not going to be an option for him.
But here he is with a personal-best time of 45.04 in the 400 meters and an Olympian. This is when the story is still a feel-good one...
