Beware, you clean-shaven fellas, this is the week that members of the hysterical posse from the Historical Society are out looking for hairless-faced Maderans to put in the hoosegow. Their shenanigans are for a good cause so if you get caught play along, because before you know it the parade will be here and so will the fun in Courthouse Park afterward.

Speaking of good causes, don’t forget the annual Breakfast Lions steak barbecue in that same park on Old Timers’ Day. The grilling and serving by those Lions has been going for 40 years and along with the parade has become a tradition. Again, the proceeds all go to community betterment and youth activities so fill your tummy with a filet this Saturday.

Before that, Friday evening from 6 to 9 at Walgreen’s on Cleveland, the last car show for 2013 by that great group Madera Classic Cars will be held in the parking lot. There will be drawings for a barbecue and other prizes and to top it off live music by the Yard Dogs. The weather will even be cooperating with temperatures hovering around 80 degrees and dropping (naturally) as the evening’s fun keeps happening.
