I donated my hair for the second time in my life on May 21. Anyone can donate their hair. The hair goes toward making wigs for kids who have lost their hair from cancer or other illnesses and it makes them feel normal like everyone else.

You can go to www.locksoflove.org and fill out a hair donation form to send in with your hair. Your hair donation must be at least 10 inches long and rubber banded together in a ponytail or a braid. Your hair can be colored, but not bleached and should be put in a Ziploc plastic bag and then in a big padded envelope. Send it to: Locks of Love, 234 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33405.

On the website, you can see people who have donated hair and also kids who have gotten hair pieces from Locks of Love. If you are under 21, you can apply for one if you need one. After they receive your hair donation, Locks of Love will send you a thank you card or a thank you email.

It makes me feel like a good citizen to help others and community service is a good thing for the giver and the receiver. I hope that more people will donate their hair to Locks of Love to help these kids who need our hair...
