Okay, how many of you followed the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, giving birth to new British royalty? Don’t all of you text, email, or let me know at the same time. Granted, this scribe likes English history, but I’m more interested with the earlier monarchy, say from Queen Victoria on back. Well, there are the brave British Islanders of WWII and those courageous Spitfire and Hurricane pilots defending their country during the Battle of Britain.
It was nice of the duchess to wait until the British Open concluded Sunday before going into labor. I mean the channel switching would have been unbearable with Phil Mickelson sinking birdie after birdie as he charged to victory and Duchess Kate bearing down to deliver a boy. What drama.
Of course the golf was being played at Muirfield Course in Scotland. Scotland! Which takes me back to the aforementioned history, albeit of William Wallace (Braveheart) and Rob Roy (MacGregor) and thus ends today’s history lesson.

He could mow your lawn and do your taxes too. Early last Saturday morning, while cruising out Olive Avenue, I passed my accountant’s office. I blinked twice, maybe three times, when I saw my favorite (okay, only) accountant, Bob Garibay, mowing the lawn in front of his business. He was doing a pretty good job too, with the lines on the grass from the mower almost as straight as those on his accounting sheets. If it helps Bob keep this scribe in the green he can mow as many lawns as he wants...
