Bertoncini's a tough guy with big heart

Bo Bertoncini, mananger of the Madera American and Little League and City champions Papa Murphy’s, is a tough guy. Always has been.

Even his former high school coach at Madera High agrees with this assessment.

Ron Scott along with Jim Ferguson and George McWherter formed one of the most impressive coaching staffs in the Valley in the mid to late 80s, and Bertoncini was their catcher.

“Bo truly was a tough guy. A blue-collar kind of guy that worked his butt off every single day,” said Scott, who coached the Coyotes to the 1986 NYL championship before becoming the legendary head coach for the Fresno City Rams. “He’s the kind of player that got everything he could out of himself. Lots of players think they are tough, but very few really are. Bo’s the real deal.” ...
