The beaver, the structural engineer and architect

Most of the daytime programs on television don’t interest me except some of the Nat Geo Wild programs. A couple of days ago one of the programs was about how beavers build dams to pond the water so they have a place to build their nests and raise their young.

When the ponds are created from the dams, it not only helps the beaver but also many other animals and birds in the area.

As I watched the program, my thoughts drifted back to a project I worked on in Ohio. The company I worked for got the bid to build a large dam in Harrison County, Ohio for water control and recreation for the people in the area. It took about a week to move the equipment needed for the job to the location, which was about 90 miles from where I lived...
