Those of us who grew up around different animals are very fortunate. I grew up on a farm where there were many different kinds of animals that helped in the fields and provided us with food, eggs, milk and recreation.

The dogs and cats added fun for us little ones along with the rabbits, geese, and different breeds of chickens. We had two teams of horses for all the work in the fields because there were not any tractors in that part of the country. I feel very blessed to have experienced that part of my life because I learned how important all animals are to this planet.

Everything has a purpose, and the animals add to the beauty of nature as well as providing a food source for man and other animals. The beauty of nature is not only in animals, but also in the plant life and the birds of the air. Having several animals as part of my early life is probably why I enjoy the nature programs on television as well as some of the science programs about our universe...
