Club-conscious minds. Saturday saw another wonderful Old Timers Day and the fun and feisty festivities afterward in Courthouse Park. Of course, most of this wouldn't be possible without some terrific effort by our service clubs and organizations working together.

The Madera Kiwanis, those great parade people, made sure that segment lumbered along properly and dodged the trains that were the usual deterrent to the natural flow of entries.

At the park we had the Madera Breakfast Lions and their traditional steak barbecue with the delicious beans included in the meal being carried in big pots from the Elks Lodge across the street, trip after trip, by two Lions members.

Why? Because the Elks, for many years, have been kind enough to allow the Lions to use their kitchen to prepare the beans. Thanks to all for working together to provide our citizens a great day. Elks and Lions together in harmony? What would Mother Nature think? ...
