As a parent, a somewhat young one, I frequently worry about my parenting skills. I’m constantly concerned that I might be doing something wrong and that my kids will turn out to be royally screwed up because of the way I’ve raised them.

For now, the consensus from my family and friends is that I have nothing to worry about. I’m doing a good job as a parent and my kids are pretty awesome.

I believe that running has a lot to do with that.

Parents are their children’s first — and most important — role models. That is why it is so important to chuck “do as I say, not as I do” out the window and fully commit to being the kind of person that you want to see your son or daughter become...
