Tee time: Congrats to Lowell Stone, former country-western singer from Bakersfield. Singing and playing guitar he was good at, but making golf courses fun and playable is his forte. Lowell just celebrated 50 years in golf course management on courses throughout the Valley including Sunnyside, Madera Municipal and currently Madera Country Club.

I happened to change channels Sunday just in time to see basketball great LeBron James being interviewed and asked about being down 3-1 in the NBA finals and no team ever coming back from that deficit. “History is made to be broken,” James replied.

Uh, Mr. James, when something happens and it becomes history it can’t be changed or broken. Unless you have H.G. Wells’ “Time Machine” or Michael J. Fox’s DeLorean that can go back in time and also “Back to the Future.”

Just as I was thinking James meant to say, “Records are made to be broken,” he repeated his historical reference. It didn’t matter because history will record his team lost the championship four games to one...
