“You should see lots of cardinals in the midwest”, my friend Shari Garbett told me. She was referring to the birds and not a baseball team.

Since moving to Arkansas recently and retiring from MUSD after 30 years as middle school librarian, I have seen none of our fine feathered friends, but I have seen many potential unfeathered friends.

The Mountain Home Public Library is one of the most fantastic sights I have ever seen! The exterior is magnificent. The interior is even more so. I admit the most attractive part to me is their Blackbird Café, which makes the best lattes in town. Alas, this town has no Starbucks, and I have a brand new Starbucks card in my wallet, thanks to my dear friend Moira Farrelly...
