Maybe worried about my dog, Racer, a few readers emailed concerning the rivalry between two churches that posted opposite viewpoints on their sign boards debating if dogs go to heaven. I found it amusing the billboards changed with each response.
It presumably started with the message from a Catholic church that read, “All dogs go to Heaven.” It was answered by the Presbyterians across the street with, “Only humans go to Heaven, read the Bible.” The Catholics responded with “God loves all creatures, including dogs,” which was answered by, “Dogs don’t have souls.” It went back and forth, on and on.
As for yours truly — and Racer just blinked his big eyes at me — I’m going with the great humorist Will Rogers who said, “If there are no dogs in heaven then I want to go where they went.”

Continuing with a cool canine. This scribe, along with many patrons of Farnesi’s, were saddened upon hearing of the loss of Hilary, the beloved mascot of the iconic Madera restaurant. The sad-eyed, but welcoming Labrador mix was known to be a tail-wagging greeter of patrons at the door for many years, and in her later life could be seen relaxing by the kitchen exit. She had a good life (thanks to Carla, Don and staff), and no doubt is enjoying a good laugh (dogs really smile, you know) with Will Rogers...
