I see the candidates removed their campaign signs on the town’s busy corners just in time for the fireworks stands to go up. Do we celebrate the right to vote on July 4th? Do we celebrate our independence?
Maybe worried about my dog, Racer, a few readers emailed concerning the rivalry between two churches that posted opposite viewpoints on their sign boards debating if dogs go to heaven.
Child killers. After 25 years of extraordinary effort by Rotarians around the world, including Madera’s, the dreaded child crippler and life-taker, polio, is on the verge of eradication.
“Hot town, summer in the city,” sang the Lovin’ Spoonful way back when. Actually, I think it was 1966 and the city I was in was pretty cool in many ways other than the temperature.
It was pretty cool and patriotic to see all the American flags waving in the gentle breeze as I drove around town yesterday.
