Americans gave thanks for all sorts of things yesterday. Yours truly simply gave thanks that I’m still pounding the keys under the watchful eye of my gal.

Happy Thanksgiving dear reader, and to all. Tomorrow is a day for family, friendship, football and fun. It is when all Americans sit down to stuff themselves at the same time. That would be halftime.
I was sitting near the front of Mrs. Mastin’s freshman Biology class at Madera High. It was nearing 11 in the morning and she was talking to us about dissecting frogs sometime in the future.
Watching some football on Sunday I noticed, as the season progresses, several pro football teams during the season wear their “throwback” uniforms from as early as the 1930s.
First off: Congrats to Doug Nelson, county counsel for a long tenure. He will celebrate his retirement tomorrow with a big to-do at the VFW hall.
As per what has become tradition, it was a fine tribute to our fallen heroes at Courthouse Park on Veterans Day with patriotic music, inspiring words and the usual terrific effort by our own posts of the VFW
Another Monday holiday. And this time it is well earned by the many veterans who have given their time, sweat, effort and ultimate sacrifice in too many wars.
