My first marathon is Sunday and I really do feel like a kid preparing for the first day of school.

That Boston bug is still chirping in my ear. I’ve been swatting it away with all of my injuries, time off, and general self-doubt, but it’s still there.
I ran 20 miles on Saturday. Twenty.
It was something I had never done before — in fact, my longest run before that was a little less than 14 1/2 miles.
Twenty-five days — and just 12 training days — left until I attempt my first 26.2-mile race. My heart pounds every time I think about it.
I think I gave up too soon.
Congratulations to Oswaldo Lopez for completing the toughest foot race in the world, the 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon, for the fifth year in a row.
I’m very sad to report the Santa Rosa Marathon is now out of the question for me.
