This has been an emotional week. Tuesday was the 17th anniversary of being hired at The Madera Tribune. It also would have been my mother’s 82nd birthday. My mom died 22 years ago.
The primary election is over and with it goes the annoying campaign commercials on television. Too soon the airwaves will be polluted with new commercials for the presidential and other elections.
Anyone who thinks of Memorial Day as just the first holiday of summer or the Indianapolis 500 needs to put a little more thought into it.
What would our founding fathers make of the issues being bandied about before the upcoming presidential election? At one point it seemed this would be a one-issue race, namely the economy.
It shouldn’t come as a big surprise to regular readers of this column that I am thankful that I am not a mother. The responsibility for raising a child was one I have never been willing to assume.
Signs soon will be popping up all over Madera saying “Love Madera.” This project is an effort by the Madera Ministerial Association to instill civic pride in our community.
